Lace Around the Wound is the second album by American singer, actress and musician E.G. Daily, which was released in 1989. In the UK, the album was titled Fly.[2]
Background
The album signaled a change in direction for Daily from synthpop to pop-rock.[3] The album's lead single, "Some People,"[4] peaked at #33 on the American Dance Chart. After A&M failed to sufficiently promote the album, Daily parted ways with the label.[5]
The album was produced by various producers, largely Lotti Golden and Tommy Faragher, both American musicians and producers. Daily wrote several songs with the pair, and would also produce two tracks herself. Another track was produced by keyboardist and producer John Van Tongeren[6] and two tracks were produced by Glenn Skinner and Pete Glenister. Skinner is a producer of many artists including Curiosity Killed the Cat, Lighthouse Family, Boy George, and Deborah Harry.[7] Glenister is an English musician and producer, best known for his work with Alison Moyet.[4]
Because of the limited success of the album, Daily wouldn't release another album until 1999, which was titled Tearing Down the Walls. This album would be released under Daily's own record label.[8]
The track "Cry Just a Little" was later covered by Celine Dion. Originally, the song was from the original recording sessions of Dion's 1992 eponymous album, but the song was not added to the final track list.[9] Instead, the cover was only available as a b-side of certain editions on the "Love Can Move Mountains" single. "This Time" and "Heart Don't Lie," appeared in the American NBC hit television series California Dreams, and were also released on the California Dreams (Soundtrack) CD by MCA Records (1992).[10]
