Koniamman Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Koniamman located in Big bazaar, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Koyamma, the goddess worshiped by chieftain Koyan evolved into Koniamma and the name of the city Koyambuthur could have been derived from Kovaiamma.[1] The temple dates back to 16th century A.D.[2] A 84 feet (26 m) gopuram, the tallest in the region was completed in 2011 at a cost of ₹1.75 crore (US$260,000).[3]
