Killer Flood: The Day the Dam Broke is a 2003 low-budget disaster film made for TV, starring Joe Lando, Michele Greene and Bruce Boxleitner. It was produced by PorchLight Pictures and David Giancola's Edgewood Entertainment and first shown by Pax TV.[1]
Plot
A dam outside a town is filling up with water due to heavy rains. David Powell, the disgraced architect of the dam building project, comes back to town to reunite with his estranged family, however he is rejected, with his wife claiming that he came back purely to see the dam. David then visits the dam and reveals that the project manager cut corners in order to take money himself and framed the architect to hide his own corruption. The dam's resident engineer, Frank, David's son, Garth and David himself set out to relieve the growing pressure on the dam wall, however the pressure release does not work, as corner cutting had led to this portion not being completed. Through flooding the warehouse district, Frank allows the townspeople enough time to escape, sacrificing himself in the process. Garth and his father become trapped within the dam as the structure begins to buckle, but Garth who was doing a project review at college reveals knowledge of the dam's construction. He then pulls a C4 charge out of his pocket and once a hole is blasted in the wall opposite the door, revealing an exit pipe, both Garth and his father make an escape to a creek bed. They are then picked up by his mother and with his dad driving attempt to outrun the water raging from the now flooded dam. After realising that this won't be possible, David drives the car to the top of a 2 storey car park. The water flows through and under the car park instead of washing it away due to its design and having been built by David, who according to his mother is the best architect in the world.
