Jewel Rana (Bengali: জুয়েল রানা) is a Bangladeshi footballer who plays as a Right Winger. He currently plays for Dhaka Abahani in Bangladesh Premier League .[1]
Early stage
Jewel started to play competitive for second tier side BG Press where he scored 5 goals from 7 matches. He played for first division side Mohakhali Club in the next season and scored 7 times from 8 games . He was also the top scorer of first division in that season. He had offers from BCL sides- Agrani Bank SC, Uttar Baridhara SC and Wari Club and Jewel chose to go for Wari.
Club career
Brothers Union
Jewel Rana started his professional career from 2013 when he signed contract for Brothers Union. He came into limelight in 2013 Super Cup when he scored 3 goals and became joint top scorer with Sheikh Russel KC's Jahid Hasan Ameli and Dhaka Mohammedan's Wahed Ahmed. He received The Rising Star[2] award there. He scored in 2-1 quarter final win against Team BJMC in 2014 Independence Cup. He performed beautifully in 2013–14 Bangladesh Football Premier League though scored just a single goal playing as a midfielder. Syed Nayeemuddin's youthful Brothers Union side impressed everyone and finished the league at fifth place.
Dhaka Mohammedan
At the end of the 2013-14 season, He earned a contract from Dhaka Mohammedan for the next season.
2014-15 season was also very successful for Jewel Rana. He scored 7 goals for Black and Whites and became the second top scorer in local merit list of 2014-15 Bangladesh Premier League.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club
Jewel Rana made his AFC Cup (continental club tournament) debut as a loaned player for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club against Tampines Rovers on 26 April 2016.He played an important role for the team where his team won the match by 3-2 goals.He also received the Player of the Match award in very same match.
International career
For brilliant performance in local football Jewel was called for national team very soon by Lodewijk de Kruif in 2015.
He made his debut at a International friendly against Singapore on 30 May 2015. He received the Player of the Match award for his performance against Tajikistan during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification. He also played well against Asian Giant Jordan in same qualification round. He missed two easy chances and yet to find his first International goal due to his inexperience.
