José Jesús Silvestre (born September 27, 1987 in Nayarit, Mexico) is a Mexican professional boxer and the former WBA World Minimumweight Interim Champion.[1][2] Silvestre is promoted by the former WBA (Super) & WBC Champion, Mexican Saúl Álvarez' company Canelo Promotions.[3]
Professional career
In February 2012, Jesús beat the title contender Yader Escobar to become the mandatory challenger for the WBA World Minimumweight Championship.[4]
WBA Minimumweight Championship
On July 14, 2012 Silvestre won a twelve round decision over Mexican Edwin Díaz to capture the WBA World Minimumweight Interim Championship, the bout was held at the Auditorio Benito Juárez, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
