Jean-Louis Servan-Schreiber (born 1937) is a French journalist. He is the co-founder of L'Expansion and the founder of Psychologies and Radio Classique. He is the author of several books.
Early life
Jean-Louis Servan-Schreiber was born on October 31, 1937 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. His father, Émile Servan-Schreiber, was a Jewish author.[1] His mother was Denise Bresard. The Servan-Schreibers (up to 200 members) have a family reunion every five years.[1]
Servan-Schreiber graduated from Sciences Po.[2]
Career
Servan-Schreiber is a journalist.[3][4] He first wrote for Echos, followed by L'Express.[2] He co-founded L'Expansion with Jean Boissonnat in 1967.[2] He founded Radio Classique in 1982.[2] He was the owner of La Vie Éco, a Moroccan newspaper, from 1994 to 1997.[2] He founded Psychologies in 1997, and sold it to the Lagardère Group in 2008.[2] He founded another magazine, Clés, in 2010.[2]
Servan-Schreiber is the author of several books. He has served as the chairman of the French chapter of Human Rights Watch since 2007.[2] When asked about emerging technologies in 2015, he talked about Wikipedia:
I am fascinated by Wikipedia, which is an example of what human cooperation leads to when money is not part of the equation. Every day, tens of thousands of volunteers contribute in every language. Personal life
Servan-Schreiber was married twice. He married his first wife, Claude Sadoc, in 1957. They had four children; she is now married to a woman, Françoise Gaspard.[5] In 1987, he married his second wife, Perla.[2]
