Jaypee de Guzman

Jaypee de Guzman was a multi-awarded child actor in the Philippines. He was famous child stars of the '80s along with Bamba, Lady Lee, RR Herrera, Chuckie Dreyfus, Glaiza Herradura, Rose Ann Gonzales, Matet de Leon and Aiza Seguerra, among others. He received his first award for Best Child Performer in Metro Manila Film Festival movie Teng Teng De Sarapen (1983) starring Dolphy and Alma Moreno.

Career

He was a favorite child star whose intense and emotional performances made audiences weep inside movie theaters. He appeared in the film Saan Darating Ang Umaga? (1983) as the adopted son of Nida Blanca and Nestor de Villa, with Maricel Soriano as the sister, which De Guzman won the FAMAS Award as Best Child Actor. Another FAMAS Award he won in the movie Tinik Sa Dibdib (1985) and in the same movie he won FAP Award as Best Child Performer.

As a teenager he became a member of That's Entertainment. He guested in one of the episodes of Homeboy with other former child stars RR Herrera and Chuckie Dreyfus.

Personal life

He graduated Communication Arts from De La Salle University. He is now a family man, married to PY, and has three boys.

He worked as Editor at GMA 7. He became head of the music and audio-visual arm of Elim Communities, a Catholic charismatic community. He became the Intergalactic Coordinating Overlord (a term which he coined himself) of the Elim Youth Ministry. He became also a manager of the video department at Springs Foundation, Inc. and now he owns a Trinity Cycle shop.
