The Municipality of Pesnica (pronounced [ˈpeːsnitsa]; Slovene: Občina Pesnica) is a municipality in northeastern Slovenia. The center of the municipality is Pesnica pri Mariboru, a suburb near Maribor. It lies at the western end of the Slovene Hills in the Upper Pesnica Valley. The area was part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region as part of the Pesnica Administrative Unit (Slovene: Upravna enota Pesnica). The main economic activities in the area are tourism, trucking, and farming.
Settlements
The village of Pesnica pri Mariboru is a new small town but Jareninski Dol (formerly named Jarenina) and Pernica are much older. Jarenina is also an old parish. There are many castles and organic farms, such are Kozar, Eder, Trunčič, Gaube, and Sergo Dveripax.
