Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Kerala
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Kerala, the Kerala chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind was officially formed on 30 January 1948 at the first meeting held at Valanchery, Malappuram.[1] Inspired by writings of Abul A'la Maududi it was V.P. Mohammed Ali Saheb who gave leadership for the formation of the Kerala chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Formation
Official units of Jamaate Islami Hind in Kerala were formed in 1948. VP Mohammed Ali identified the members of the organization through the study classes which he had been conducting in different remote pockets of Kerala. On 30 January 1948, local unit of the organization was formed at Kozhikode. Later, the second unit was formed at Valanchery, Malappuram.[2]
Conferences
First conference of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Kerala was held in the month of January in 1948 at Valanchery, Malappuram. In the same year second conference was held at Kozhikode on 21 August 1948. Decision to start publication of Prabodhanam was taken in this conference. The conferences held at Kuttiady (1949), Valappattanam (1950), Edayur, Malappuram (1953), Aluva (1957), Moozhikkal (1960) suggested the development of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Kerala.
Organization
MI Abdul Azeez is currently holding the position of "Amir-e-Halqa". He is the president of 23-member "Shoora" (Advisory Council|State Council). Under the state council there are district committees. Further, there are Area committees and "Halqas" at ground level.
