Jesse James "J.J." Laster (born June 29, 1988) is an American football coach and former running back for Jacksonville University. He is the current defensive graduate assistant at Jacksonville University.[1]
Playing career
Laster attended Graceville High School in Graceville, Florida. He is the all-time leading rusher in Tigers history with over 6,000 yards rushing in his career.[2] He was the 2005 and 2007 1B Dairy Farmer Player of the year. In 2005 he led the Tigers to a State runner-up finish.
Laster chose to attend Jacksonville University. He was a running back and return specialist for Jacksonville University from 2008-2011. He was a major contributor to the 2008 and 2010 Pioneer Football League Championship teams. He was First Team all PFL in 2010 and Second Team all PFL in 2011. In 2010 he led all FCS players in yards per carry with 8.5.
Coaching career
Laster started his coaching career as the running back's coach at Allen D. Nease High School in 2012. In 2013, Laster joined the Jacksonville University football staff as a defensive graduate assistant and currently holds the same position.
