Established in 2003, Inteliquent (formerly Neutral Tandem, Inc.), provides wholesale voice and messaging interconnection services and is used by wireline and wireless carriers, CLECs, cable companies, VoIP Service Providers and NextGen telecommunications companies. Headquartered in Chicago, Inteliquent is a public company and traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol IQNT.
History
In 2003, Inteliquent created the first independent tandem network - a "network of networks" uniquely interconnecting disparate carrier networks to facilitate the exchange of traffic. This network greatly streamlined the way wireless, cable, CLEC and broadband telephony companies routed local transit traffic between one another, and formed the foundation for later interconnection service arrangements.
- 2006 - Completed the installation of a national IP backbone and extended its reach by interconnecting 179 markets.
- 2007 - Began public trading on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol IQNT.
- 2008 - Added terminating and originating switched access services, which are provided in connection with long distance calls.
- 2010 - Named no. 2 on Crain’s Fast 50 (fastest-growing companies by five-year revenue growth).[1] - Completed acquisition of Tinet SpA, an Italian-based global carrier in the IP Transit and Ethernet wholesale market.[2] - Reached 108.5 billion network billed minutes, an increase of 23.5% over 2009; and revenue of $199.8 million, an increase of 18.3% compared to $168.9 million in 2009.
- 2011 - Named no. 2 on Forbes’ annual Top 25 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in America.[3] - Awarded Crain’s Fast Fifty ranking of No. 12 on the list of fastest-growing companies in Chicago[4] - Ranked 59 on Fortune Magazine’s 2011 list of “100 Fastest-Growing Companies"[5] - Listed 38 on Forbes Magazine list of America’s Best Small Companies[6] - Earned 2011 Internet Telephony Excellence award for its HD Voice Interconnection Service[7] - Won Capacity Magazine's 2011 Best Market Innovation Award[8] - Inteliquent and Cisco announce Cloud-Based Unified Communications, using Cisco’s Hosted Collaboration Solution platform.[9]
- 2012 - Awarded Atlantic-ACM 2012 Global Wholesale "Best in Class" award for Provisioning - Received Crain's Chicago Business "Fast Fifty" award (No. 21)[10] - Neutral Tandem and Tinet are formally rebranded as "Inteliquent"[11]
- 2013 - Awarded Atlantic-ACM Global Wholesale "Best in Class" awards for Billing, Customer Service, Sales Reps, Provisioning, Network Performance and Data Value.[12] - Sells Tinet data business to Global Telecom & Technology for $54.5 million, concentrating on its core voice interconnection business.[13]
- 2015 - Received three Atlantic-ACM Wholesale Service Provider Excellence awards - #1 for Sales Reps, and top ranking scores for Billing and Voice Value.[14]
- 2016 - Launched Omni, a comprehensive voice and messaging solution for NextGen and Over-The-Top (OTT) service providers[15] - Acquired next-generation software and switching platform provider Shopety/BetterVoice.
