"I Want Candy" is also the title of a song written and originally recorded by The Strangeloves in 1965, and covered by Melanie C for the film.
The film received mixed reviews, but praise from Channel 4,[2] Time Out[3] and Empire Magazine.[4]
Box office performance
The movie entered the UK Top 10 at No. 7,[5] and moved to No.11 the following week.[6]
Locations
Scenes in the fictional Leatherhead University were filmed on the campus of Brooklands College in Weybridge, Surrey.
In 2016, filmmaker Anthony Crossland posted a video of the house used in 'I want candy' to the 'Missing footage' youtube channel as part of a web series : Film in real life. Crossland claimed that the house was down the street from where he's currently living and stated that a house next door may have been used for interior shots as in 2016, there's no window on the second floor facing the road. It's believed that Anthony Crossland was residing in Ruislip, Greater London at the time.
