Institute of Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition (IHM), Pusa, New Delhi, generally known as IHM Pusa, is an hospitality educational institute in India. IHM Pusa is situated in Pusa Institutional Area, New Delhi. IHM Pusa is known to be the top hotel management institute in the country for the last 5 years in a row because of its placements, faculty, discipline and students . The Institute is governed by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology[1] set up by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
It is the first & only Hotel Management institute in India to be HACCP approved.[2]
Students can secure admission in IHM Pusa on the basis of their score/rank in NCHMCT JEE.
History
This Institute is the second Government institute to start in 1962 under the Ministry of food after the Dadar Catering College, Bombay (Now IHM Mumbai). It was started by the Government Of India under the guidance of Sir Belfield Smith in Pusa, New Delhi in the abandoned barracks behind present employment exchange building.

Admissions
Students are offered admission in hotel management courses offered at IHM Pusa on the basis of their score/rank in National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMCT JEE).
The entrance exam is conducted at the national level and is one of the most popular hotel management entrance exams conducted in India.
The test paper consists of questions from subjects such as: Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Deductions, English, General Knowledge and Current Events.
Industrial Training
The students in various courses have to undergo industrial training of different durations (e.g. 17 weeks for Bsc HHA) at any recognised hotel, as a part of their program.
Infrastructure
IHM Pusa has several Training kitchens, bakery Lab, a training restaurant, housekeeping and front office labs and classrooms for teaching theory and practical subjects at various semisters.
There is a library with more than 5000 books and reading materials. Other facilities include an auditorium and conference rooms.
Rankings & Awards
The Institute has been ranked as amongst top three Hotel Management institutes in India.[3]
Vegetarian Option
In 2016, three IHMCTANs - Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Jaipur - started giving a student the option to choose only vegetarian cooking. Earlier, it was compulsory for all IHMCTAN students to learn non-vegetarian cooking. This decision to offer a vegetarian option by IHMCTANs may be the first amongst any of the hospitality training institutes of the world. It is expected that all IHMCTANs will start offering a vegetarian cooking option from academic year 2017 onwards.[4][5]
