The Holy Rosary Academy is a Catholic school in Hinunangan, Philippines, founded in 1948. The school currently catered for primary to secondary level students.
History
The Holy Rosary Academy was founded in 1948 by the Most Rev. Manuel Mascariñas, D.D., the Bishop of Palo, assisted by Rev. Fr. Gregorio M. Florendo, the parish priest of Hinunangan, in response to the request of some prominent Catholics in the town. The school teaches its curriculum in English.
The large parish convent was utilized as the initial school building. As the years went on the school was able to add several buildings and facilities in order to meet the increasing demands of its students and the requirements of the Bureau of Private Schools. In spite of the many setbacks, like financial shortages and natural calamities, the school survived and at the same time faced the uncertain future on a quite stable basis.
The school originally offered only a first to third year academic secondary course. There were two school years, 1950–52, in which it offered a complete secondary course plus a first year of Junior Normal College. But after the school year 1951-52, only a complete secondary course with vocational subjects was offered.
With the increase of enrollment as the years went on, HRA eventually outgrew its first home which was the parish convent. So in the 1968, during the time of Rev. Fr. Frederick Wakeham, SFM, and through the dedicated efforts of many parishioners, a new HRA building was constructed from funds collected locally and from abroad.
