Hetty Feather is a British children's drama, which focuses on the life of the title character, who was abandoned as a baby and lives in a Foundling Hospital in London. It is based on the book of the same name by Jacqueline Wilson. The first series aired from 11 May 2015 to 6 July 2015. Series 2 was first aired on 10 May 2016.
Premise
The premise of the series revolves around Hetty Feather, who was abandoned as a baby. She was fostered by Peg with Gideon Smeed, her foster brother and when they turned 5, they had to return to the Foundling Hospital. The series is set during 1887 and filmed at Cobham Hall, Cobham, Kent.[1] [2][3] Series two once again returned to Cobham Hall, Cobham, Kent and also used The Maidstone Studios as their production base.[4]

Special (2016)
After the end of the episode The End Of It All in series 4, a five-minute crossover between The Dumping Ground and Hetty Feather aired on CBBC, titled A Special Dumping Ground Adventure. Its official title (according to CBBC Online) is Floss The Foundling and has instead used this title online and in subsequent TV airings.

When Floss has to do the vacuuming. she ruins a picture that Tyler, Billie and Toni work on when they don't want her help. Floss falls asleep on the sofa and ends up in the Foundling Hospital. She encounters Hetty Feather, who introduces Floss to the Foundling Hospital ways. Sheila and Elizabeth are mean towards Floss and Hetty gets Floss out of trouble with Matron Bottomley. Floss and Hetty make friends. When Floss wakes up, she draws a replacement picture. New baby foundlings are admitted to the hospital and a woman named Agnes asks Hetty to make sure her daughter Hazel's name isn't changed. Vince and Judd raid the dormitories for things to exchange for a football. New kitchen maid Ida arrives at the hospital. Nurse Winterson is furious with Hetty when she interrupts Hazel's baptism, insisting that she remains Hazel. At night, Hetty arranges for Hazel to be sent to her foster family. The following morning, Hetty, with the help of Gideon and Mathias, places a letter with Hazel for her brother Jem and Vince and Judd's thieving is found out by Hetty. | ||||

A couple, Mr and Mrs McCartney, visit the hospital and meet Polly, causing Mrs McCartney to faint. They explain to Matron Bottomley that she reminds them of their late daughter Lucy. Mr and Mrs McCartney's request to adopt Polly is approved by Colonel Brigwell. Polly is left stunned when she is told. Polly tries to fake an illness with her friends help, but they are found out by Matron Bottomley. Polly agrees the adoption and promises Hetty to help find her mother. Polly leaves the hospital and Hetty realises Matron Bottomley never took her new address. | ||||

Hetty gets a letter, but under Matrons eye Nurse Winterson has to secretly give it to her. It is discovered that there are fleas in the junior girl's dormitory, the staff are checking all the dormitories. As the senior girls rush to hide their stuff, Eliza and the other juniors arrive. Hetty's letter is from Jem, it says to meet at the gates by noon but Cook burnt her hands quite badly, so both Sheila and Hetty are recruited to help Ida in the kitchens. | ||||

Vince and Judd discover the tower and bump into Hetty, who is trying to hide her journals from Blanche. Whilst Vince is teasing Hetty about her journals, Mathias makes an appearance and makes them leave. Mathias, with the help of Hetty, writes a message to Harriet saying that if Harriet wears the feather inside the letter, Mathias will know that she likes him, but when Hetty bumps into Ida, the letter is dropped and placed on top of Matron's papers outside her office. Matron opens the letter and believes it is from Colonel Brigwell and wears the feather. Hetty writes more letters to Matron in the name of Colonel Brigwell and when Matron declares her love for the Colonel, she realizes that the letters were fake. With the help of Blanche, Matron discovers that Hetty wrote the letters and she is put in the tench. | ||||

DVD releases
The first series of Hetty Feather has been made available on DVD, which was made available on 27 July 2015.[6] The first season was given a U (Universal) and a PG rating by the BBFC for mild bad language, mild scenes of threat and peril, and mild adult themes (specifically scenes centered on death and bereavement).
The second series of Hetty Feather will also be available on DVD, with its release date being July 18, 2016.[7]
