Helena "Elena" Gushi Kadare (born in 1943 in Fier, Albania) is an Albanian author of short stories and novels.[2] One of these, 1970's Një lindje e vështirë, is the first by a woman to have been published in Albania. Kadare has lived in Paris with her husband Ismail Kadare since 1990.[3]
