Tourism
The Lakshmikantha Swami temple situated at the centre of the village is the centre of tourist activity in this village. This is an ancient temple and is at least 700 years old. It is an exquisite piece of Hoysala architecture and is constructed in the trikootachala style with a triad of shrines around a central atrium. From the vantage point of the central atrium one can simultaneously view the three deities. Lakshmikantha (literally the Lord of Lakshmi) adorns the central sanctum sanctorium. Venugopala and Lakshminarasimha comprise the other two deities of the triad. A beautiful image of Andal adorns a corner of the central atrium. Another enclosure houses the images of Sri Ramanuja, Vedantha Desika and other alwars. Outside the main complex, at the entrance gate are shrines of Ganapathi and the Navagrahas. For most part of the last century, this temple was in a dilapidated state. But towards the turn of the last century, this temple was renovated due to the untiring efforts of Sri Rangapriya Swami and the financial support of the TVS group.
Apart from this temple there are other temples in Hedathale like the Maramma temple and a Shiva temple.
Prominent personalities
Sriranga Mahaguru (1913–1969), the founder of AshtangaYoga Vijnana Mandiram is amongst the most prominent personalities of Hedathale. His disciple Sri Sri Rangapriya Sri Sri, was a prominent sanyasi in southern India and was instrumental in the revival of the Lakshmikantha swami temple.
