Hanford Municipal Airport (ICAO: KHJO, FAA LID: HJO), formerly O18, is a public airport located one mile (1.6 km) southeast of the central business district of Hanford, a city in Kings County, California, United States. It is owned by the City of Hanford.[1]

Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Hanford Municipal Airport is assigned HJO by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA.[2]

Facilities and aircraft

Hanford Municipal Airport covers an area of 132 acres (53 ha) with one asphalt paved runway (14/32) measuring 75 ft × 5,175 ft (23 m × 1,577 m).[1]

For the 12-month period ending March 29, 2007, the airport had 28,500 aircraft operations, an average of 78 per day, all of which were general aviation. There are 75 aircraft based at this airport: 85% single engine and 15% multi-engine.[1]

Other facilities

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service San Joaquin Valley Weather Forecast office is located at the airport since 1995. The doppler weather radar, part of NEXRAD, serves the southern Central Valley of California counties from Merced to the north, to Kern to the south.[3]
