Han Ji-sang (born July 25, 1982) is a South Korean actor. Han debuted as a stage actor in the musical Grease. In 2013, Han was one of the busiest actors in Korea's performing arts scene, starring in a total of seven shows, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Bonnie & Clyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Next to Normal. One of the reasons why he could not reject the offers was because he simply could not resist the characters he was given to play. "I just wanted to play them all." he said.
Year 2013 also marked the 10th anniversary of Han's debut. Though he is now one of the most wanted actors in the musical theatre scene, he only became interested in acting after failing to score well on the Suneung ― the Korean equivalent of the SAT ― for three consecutive years. He found acting almost therapeutic in many ways, especially after his struggles with the competitive education system, and wants to think of acting as his destiny. Calling himself an "extreme introvert", he believes it is the very essence of acting ― becoming someone else ― that liberates him and makes his acting career possible.[1]
On July 25, 2014, Han successfully held his concert Han Ji Sang Premium Concert in Tokyo at Tokyo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.[2]
Early life
Han was born in Seoul. One month after his birth, his family suddenly left for France. He was in Paris until 4-years old and attended Kindergarten there. Then he was fluent in French but could not remember any of it now.[3]
