Halon is a commercial scriptable[4] SMTP server, packaged as a software distribution based on FreeBSD.[3]

The web hosting provider One.com uses Halon[5] which operates some of the most active (on the basis of the number of domains they support) mail servers.[6]

Like Postfix, it supports DANE for encrypted email transfer.[7][8] It provides other email security features such as spam filtering[9][10] from CYREN,[11] DMARC[12][13][14] and DKIM.[15] Like MailChannels, it supports transparent[16] operation in order to filter spam coming out of servers not administered by the provider.
