Plot
Thanks to Jay, (Ed O'Neill), Luke (Nolan Gould) found a job as he graduates this year . Phil (Ty Burrell) is very impressed by the club and offers to be a member. Jay feigns to accept, since he thinks that Phil will screw up his chances to be picked, but it turns out that Phil actually makes a very great impression and Jay does not want to make him join his club, since this is the only place where he has peace and quiet. Jay finally changes his mind, in exchange of Phil spending time with him.
Gloria (Sofía Vergara) wants to have a night for herself since Manny (Rico Rodriguez , attends a party and Joe will soon fall asleep. Things backfires when Manny comes home earlier because an incident and Joe accidentally drinks coffee, making him hyperaddictive. Claire (Julie Bowen) manages to make herself obey from Gloria’s sons as she also has a probleme with Alex (Ariel Winter) whom she believes to be the source of inspiration. Alex is very disappointed by a woman she idealized before realizing that the woman was very selfish. But she found a job as a barista.
Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) go to an immersive theater play. The play is about a reunion of high school buddies and every night, a viewer is picked in order to play Vlad, a student from Europe, on stage. This time, Mitchell got picked up but he does not want perform. When he learns that Cameron plays a very sick janitor, Mitch seizes the opportunity and spoils the play.
The episode ends with Phil and Jay attending the same piece. Phil shares Cam’s point of view as he really likes the play, while Jay has an opinion who is close as Mitch’s and wants to leave. Unfortunately, Jay got picked up.
