As a DJ and performer he entertains with melodic progressive house and big-room club sounds.[3] His productions and remixes have been released on Sony Music Entertainment, EMI, Ministry of Sound, Bedrock Records, Mau5trap, Songbird, Robbins Entertainment, Universal Music Germany, Time Records Italy, Sony Russia.[4] His hit single ‘Goodbye’ has been Certified Double Platinum.
Life and career
Before embracing electronic music, Morrison was a classically trained pianist. At the age of four, he began composing and competing nationally through CMC, Kiwanis Music Festival, Richmond Hill Music Festival, and ORMTA.[5] Morrison reached his ARCT through the Royal Conservatory of Music by the age of 14. In his early high school years, Morrison discovered “techno” from a friend in his science class, and started collecting vinyl and becoming absorbed in underground DJ culture. He then worked at Release Records for five years before starting his own record label Morrison Recordings.[3] Around the age of 20 Morrison started producing electronic music, learning from close friends, such as deadmau5, Bruce Aisher, Peter Kriek, and Ariaan Olieroock. His first international hit was in 2007 when DJ Tiësto featured his track ‘Contact’ on his compilation In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza[6] and it shot to the top of the World Dance Charts.
His hit single ‘Goodbye’ has been Certified Double Platinum and went Number 1 for 11 weeks in a row on the Canadian Artists Billboard Chart, as well as going Number 1 in Russia, Ukraine and the Belarus Billboard Charts. Furthermore, ‘Goodbye’ was the 3rd highest grossing single for radio play in ALL genres for 2014 in Canada, passing that of iconic artists such as Drake and Celine Dion.
Glenn’s release with Brian Cid titled ‘The Flute[7]’ was one of the biggest records of the Winter Music Conference in Miami 2015. Support came hailing in from the creme de la creme of the underground house world DJs including Sasha, Danny Tenaglia, Maceo Plex, Steve Lawler, Loco Dice, Luciano, John Digweed, and Erick Morillo.
Glenn has produced and/or remixed for legendary bands & acts such as Queen, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Cher, Johnny Reid, Imagine Dragons, Moby, Depeche Mode, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay.
In 2015, Glenn was given the honour of being a multiple nominated Juno Awards artist (Dance Artist of the Year / Breakthrough Artist of the Year). He has also been nominated for Dance Artist of the Year through the Sirius XM Radio Music Awards. Shortly thereafter he was nominated for 3 more awards for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Dance Artist of the Year for the SOCAN Radio Music Awards 2015.
Glenn has had the support of DJs varying from John Digweed and Richie Hawtin to David Guetta and Tiesto. For three years he was resident at the legendary Amnesia in Ibiza, and was a resident at Space in Ibiza for one year after that. He took part in North American residencies as well at Space in Miami for 2 years, along with Marquee club in Las Vegas. Glenn added the latest addition to his residency repertoire in his monthly night being held in Las Vegas at the acclaimed Moon Nightclub at the Palms Casino. He has performed at legendary venues and festivals around the world with having over 400 shows under his belt over the past few years alone. Today, Morrison has created over 100 tracks which have been put out on over 700 compilations.
Alpine Mastering
Morrison is the owner and founder of Alpine Mastering, an "A Grade Certified" mastering studio located in Toronto, Ontario.[8]
The studio offers a number of services from ghost writing services, all the way to mixing and mastering services for international clients and world renowned record labels. Alpine is a vehicle for creating art and music for various stylistic headspaces and has major international touring DJs and electronic artists lining up for Morrisons' expertise in writing and producing. Through Alpine Mastering, Glenn Morrison has worked on sound design for video game companies like Nintendo, EA Sports, Activision and Rockstar. His latest partnership with IMAX pushes the boundaries of electronic music to that of sound-scoring live theatre visuals. Glenn & IMAX unveiled this concept with a 3 part show series at the 2012 ComicCon event held at the Ruben H Fleet Science Centre in San Diego, and it was a huge success.[9]
Morrison Recordings
Morrison Recordings designs, develops, manufactures, markets, sublicenses, and supports a wide range of mediums, ranging from music to print to services. The label and studio was founded due to Morrison’s "appreciation of the finer qualities within the electronica umbrella".[10] Over 400 records have been released on Morrison Recordings over the course of five years and 95 releases with artists including the likes of deadmau5, 16 Bit Lolitas, Gutterstylz, Robert Babicz, Charley May, and Redanka. In 2016 Morrison Recordings was closed down to allow Glenn the ability in creating and running two new record labels, Dying Light Records, and Fall From Grace Records.
