Gilbert Ronald Bainbridge

Professor Gilbert Ronald Bainbridge (28 November 1925 at felling Gateshead, Co Durham 13 August 2003 at Glan Rhos Nursing Home, Anglesey), B.SC., Ph.D., D.P.A., C.Eng., F.I.E.E., F.Inst.P., J.P., was a nuclear physicist, engineer and farmer.

Education

Jarrow County Secondary School and Durham University. Bachelor of Science, Doctor of philosophy, Chartered Engineer.

Career

1945-The Admiralty- Greenock– Torpedo research Faslane

1951-Paisley Technical College-Glasgow- Lecturer

1954- Macmaster University-Hamilton, Ontario Canada-Researcher Research using Mass spectrometry into light emissions from Stars-funded by United States Air force Strategic command.

1957-United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority- Warrington- Assistant Chief Engineer, Also Health and Safety Executive and Representative to the British Council and Uratom.

Construction, control and development of laboratories and nuclear reactors at;

Aldermaston-see Atomic Weapons Establishment, Berkeley nuclear power station, Calder Hall-see Sellafield, Dounreay Nuclear Power Development Establishment, Harwell-see Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Hinkley Point A nuclear power station, Oldbury nuclear power station, Tocai Muira, Trawsfynydd, Wylfa nuclear power station, Windscale-see Sellafield
