Born in Berlin, she moved at the age of 3 or 4 to Amsterdam, where after the war she studied at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten. In 1960 she left to England, where she had lived in the war years as well, and as of 2013 she lived in Reigate, Surrey.[1] She has historic links with Harlow town through her early commissions from Sir Frederick Gibberd and the Harlow Arts Trust.[2]
