Gender Park is an autonomous institution promoted by the Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala State, India, to resolve the gender inequity in development. The institution has its headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and its Chief Executive Officer is P.T.Mohammed Sunish who is also the Managing Director of Kerala State Women's Development Corporation.[1]
Some of the objectives of the institution are :
- To generate a space exclusively for women development activities, emphasizing entrepreneurship in service and cultural activities.
- To undertake research and documentation of the history and current trends in gender in different spheres of society through the Gender Park's International Institute for Gender and Development (IIGD). The IIGD is involved in research on gender at the local, national and international level, and aims to provide formal education in gender studies.
- To strengthen women development activities undertaken by various departments/agencies/civil society movements, such as She-Taxi.
The Gender Park campus is located at Vellimadukunnu in Kozhikkode District in Kerala. The foundation stone for the Park was laid on 8 March 2013.[2]
