Francisco Contreras (born March 21, 1984 in La Romana, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican professional boxer in the Lightweight division[2][3] and is the WBC CABOFE Light Welterweight Champion.[4] Francisco is trained by former IBF Super Featherweight Champion Roberto Garcia.[5][6]
Early life
Contreras was raised in a poor family, he first entered a boxing gym at the age of five. His father Bonifacio was also a boxer and even had two brothers who were also boxers.[7]
Amateur career
Francisco was a member of the Dominican National Team and ended his amateur career with a record of 350-14.[8]
Pro career
In September 2008, Contreras beat José Herley Zúñiga Montaño to win the WBC CABOFE Light Welterweight Championship.[9]
