Biography
An unrivaled BANGLADESHI hip hop artist named Fokir Lal Miah is known by millions around the globe. He is a remarkable lyricist and a daring poet of the next generation. His style of rapping and unique roaring vocal leaves him matchless in the Bangla Rap scene. Fokir Lal Miah’s depth of lyrics are appreciated by his fans around the nation but politicians may argue that. At times, his razor-sharp lyrics pierce directly through the hearts of corrupted politicians. His courageous truth in his rhymes often questions his own safety. Fokir Lal Miah’s real name is Shaon Ahmed. He was born in a city of Bangladesh named Sylhet (Chattak). As a child growing up, Shaon Ahmed was outgoing, talkative and possessed extraordinary rhyming skills. While all the other kids at his age were out playing, little Shaon stood apart through a rare capacity to focus in his writings. Shaon always wrote his poetry in little pieces of notes and kept them in his shirt’s pocket until the age of seven. His father became aware of Shaon’s remarkable talent after finding pieces of notes in his shirt’s pocket. In this respect, his father presented Shaon with a little green diary. In the face of the diary it was written in Bangla “Ashar Aloo” (Light of Hope). His father felt that by giving him a diary to write might enhance his outstanding abilities. In fact, from that point on, Shaon’s childhood marked by his father’s inspiration transformed him into a distinctive poet. Shaon Ahmed was certain that his exceptional style of music would create a new era for Bangladeshi Hip Hop. He would forever change the course of music history with his pulsating, unique, compelling rhymes.
Shaon Ahmed migrated to USA at the age of 11. Him and his family settled in the Lower East side (LES), the most vibrant neighborhood in New York City. Shaon Ahmed was enrolled in Junior High School and then attained his High School Diploma from Seward Park High School. In 2001, he attended Borough of Manhattan Community College and received an A.A.S. Degree in computer programming. Subsequently, he went on to pursue further studies and completed his B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Bernard M Baruch College of City university of New York in 2004.
In December 2005 Shaon Ahmed aka Redex droppd his first album titled “Quest for Glory” which apparently was a flop in the streets of New York but that never stopped Shaon from believing. He stayed with it and refused to give up. In matter of months he hit the studio again and started working on his second album “Ekla Eksho” VOL 1. A week after the album was released, it recorded 30,000 units sold in less than a month period just in the UK. In his hit single “Lal Ekla Eksho” he blasted a war criminal of 1971 who is also known as a prominent religious figure of Bangladesh and went under ruthless attacks and criticisms. Shaon had the gift and courage to carry messages across on instrumentals and that is the primary purpose of hip hop. Bangla rap was only a topic of laughter and not valued in our society until Lal Miah came down with his hit single "Lal Ekla Eksho."
After the great success of "Lal Ekla Eksho", many gifted individuals expressed their interest in becoming part of Fokir Lal Miah’s 3rd album called "Choy Nong Bipod Songket." Johaan (The Director), Helal (The Producer) and the most famous Bangladeshi American hip hop group called Stoic Bliss who enthusiastically took a great deal of burden on their shoulder to see Bangla rap prosper all over the world. Together they created a production called TnT Warehouse.
