FK Skopje (Macedonian: ФК Скопје) is a football club from Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia. They play in the Macedonian Second League.

History

The club was created in 1921 originally as SSK Skopje, and they competed in the Macedonian Football League with great success. The golden period of the team was the 1930s when they won 6 titles champions of Macedonia. First one in 1929 at the fourth official championship. SSK Skopje shared the first place with JUG and Sparta both Skopje based teams. They repeated the success in 1930 but this time they were alone at the top of the championship table as well in as in 1932. At this golden period of the club they won the title three times in raw, 1933 and 1934 dominating the league in this three seasons. They came back on the top of the league table as champions again in 1940 after a short period of domination of the city rivals GSK Vardar. They repeated the championship title in 1941 again just before the World War II started. Winning 7 titles in 11 seasons dominating the Macedonian championship in 1930s, was never repeated after.

After the war, the club competed in the Macedonina championship long under name FK Metalec. In 1955, FK Metalec won its 8th title before the fusion with FK Industrialec. In 1960, by uniting FK Metalec and FK Industrijalec, it was renamed to FK MIK (Metalska Industrija Kale) and later they changed back their original name of the club FK Skopje. They won their 9th title Champions of Macedonia in 1970, and it was their last trophy. As FK MIK, the club competed for two seasons in the Yugoslav Second League East where they played with teams from federal Republics of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia Kosovo and Voivodinship. Since the transformation of the Macedonian Football League into Macedonian First League, they have played there for 3 seasons: 1997/98, 1998/99 and 2010/11.
