FK Mladost (Serbian Cyrillic: ФK Mлaдocт Бaчки Japaк) is a football club based in Bački Jarak, Temerin, Serbia. Mladost currently plays in Novosadsko-Sremska Zona, 4th tier of Serbian football.
History
FK Mladost was founded in 1947. The clubs biggest success came in 1990s when Mladost played in Prva B Liga, second tier of Yugoslavian football. Since relegation from B league the club spent most of its time in third tier of Serbian football. Mladost almost reached Serbian First League in season 2008-2009, when the club was leading promotion race until the final few games, but they failed to promote, finishing third, six points behind FK Proleter Novi Sad. After many years in third tier, the club relegeted in season 2012-2013. Since then, they play in Novosadsko-Sremska Zona.
Although never played in top flight, FK Mladost is well known for its successful youth sistem. Most of their players traditionally are local boys, raised in Backi Jarak or Temerin municipality. Because of that, club is somethimes referred as Serbian Athletic Bilbao. Although the club is from very small town, with 7,000 inhabitants, many well known Serbian SuperLiga players started their career in FK Mladost. Certainly, the most famous are Milan Lukač, ex FK Partizan and Serbian national team goalkeeper and Mirko Ivanić, former captain of FK Vojvodina and Serbia U21 team.
On 8th June 2016 Mladost won Kup Vojvodine for the first time in club history, beating FK Borac Sakule 4-2 on penalties (0-0 after 90 minutes), and qualyfied for Serbian Cup 1/16 finals. This is considered as the biggest success in modern history of the club. Match was played at Karađorđe Stadium, Novi Sad.
Rivalries
FK Mladost main rival is FK Sloga Temerin. They are local rivals. Two stadiums are very nearby, separated by only 3km. Their matches are usually played in a very lively atmosphere, but without any incidents. Player transfers between clubs are very often. Historically, Mladost played in higher divisions, but in recent years Sloga is more successful. Therefore, their matches in recent seasons are very rare.
Fans
Supporters of FK Mladost are called Djavoli which means Devils. They are known as very devoted to their team. Clubs home games are often watched by 800-1,000 fans, which is biggest crowd number in the league. Because of that, FK Mladost is very tough to beat at home. In the Final of Kup Vojvodine at Karađorđe Stadium, Mladost was supported by almost 1.500 fans from Backi Jarak.
