Exogamous group

Exogamous group is a section of society within which marriages are prohibited. A marriage within an exogamous group is regarded as incestuous.

Examples of exogamous groups are:

Gotras and Clans in the castes in India.
"Fis" among the Albanians
The Oroqen people, one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China
Individuals with the same last name in China, or Chinese surname, Chinese clan
