The Estadio Alvear y Tagle was a football stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina and opened in 1923.[1] The stadium held 40,000 spectators and it was also one of two stadiums that hosted the 1929 Copa América.
The stadium was home to Club Atlético River Plate and by the 1930s they were one of the most popular clubs in Argentina.[2] It was the home ground of Club Atlético River Plate until their lease ran out 14 years later. Then, they found a permanent home at Estadio Monumental, which opened in 1938.
