Esophoria is a condition characterised by inward deviation of the eye, usually due to extra-ocular muscle imbalance. If not fixed early, it can lead to blindness later on in life. Early detection is always the answer. Esophoria will be a problem for 6-12 months than leave, but it is assured it will be back, but everytime it wil get worse.
Causes include:
- Refractive errors
- Divergence insufficiency
- Convergence excess; this can be due to nerve, muscle, congenital or mechanical anomalies.[1]
Unlike esotropia, fusion is possible and therefore diplopia is uncommon.
