Electron is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
Electron is a warrior serving in the Royal Elite of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. He is a Shi'ar with the ability to generate and control electromagnetism. He was born on Chandilar, the throne world of the Shi'ar Empire.
Fictional character biography
Electron joined in the Imperial Guard's battle on behalf of Emperor D'Ken. He battled the X-Men and Starjammers, along with other Guard members, at the M'Kraan Crystal, during a Shi'ar power struggle.[1] Alongside the Imperial Guard, he later battled Rom and his fellow Spaceknights.[2] On Deathbird's behalf, Electron later joined the Imperial Guard members in battle against Excalibur and the Starjammers.[3]
During Operation: Galactic Storm, Electron joined Oracle and Tempest in capturing Rick Jones while Warstar fought Captain America. The three Guardsmen battled a Kree Sentry, and battled the Living Lightning, but escaped with the Kree Psyche Magnetron device during the Kree-Shi'ar War.[4] Electron was also among the Imperial Guard members to later lay claim to the devastated Kree Empire after the war.[5]
Electron was also later one of the Imperial Guard members stationed on Earth for a time.[6] He also battled Vulcan and was one of the Guard members to survive the conflict.[7]
Powers and abilities
Electron is a member of the alien race known as the Shi'ar, making his physical abilities higher than that of the average human. He is a good hand-to-hand combatant, trained in armed and unarmed combat by the Shi'ar Imperial Guard.
Electron has the ability to project electromagnetic energy and move metallic objects.
Electron's costume consists of Shi'ar fabrics and body armor mimicking the properties of unstable molecules, making them non-conductive.
Inspiration
Several of the members of the Imperial Guard are at least partly based on members of the DC Comics team Legion of Super-Heroes. (Dave Cockrum, co-creator of the Guard, also had a long run as artist on the Legion.) Electron is based on LSH member Cosmic Boy.[8]
