Dhanauli is a village in Banikoder Block[2] Barabanki district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
History
Dhanauli hit the news in August 2007 when child workers from the village were rescued from a foam factory in Karnal, Haryana.[3],[4]
Location & composition
It is very close to Tehsil Haidergarh. The village is divided into three gram panchayats:
- Dhanauli Khas,
- Dhanauli Mishraan and
- Dhanauli Thakuran.
Dhanauli Khas
It is village panchayat in Banikoder Block, Barabanki District. It has two census villages:[5]
- Dhanauli khas
- Pathkanpur
- PurePathak
Dhanauli Misraan
Dhanauli Misraan (or Mishran) is named after the fact that this is mostly populated by the Mishras (The surname being "Mishra"). It is village panchayat in Banikoder Block, Barabanki District. It has two census villages:[5]
- Ohar Pur
- Dhanauli Misran
There are a few warriors serving for the country as soldiers and this village has a large number of soldiers serving in the Indian Army as officers, such as the Late Colonel Anjani Mishra, Capt. Kamlesh Mishra, Capt. Sita Raman Mishra, S.S Mishra S.I in B.S.F, Shankar Nath Mishra , Sanath, Santosh also serve in the Indian Army.
Some higher Ministry officials are from this village and the DUTT family including Ashutosh Mishra in Finance Ministry, Navneet Mishra in C.B.I and Sanjai Mishra in I.B.
Late Pandit Ram Lakhan Mishra (subedar) was well known and highly respected personality in the village who served in the Indian family as a religious teacher (Panditji) and retired as an honorary captain. His oldest son, Dr Jagdish Mishra did quite well in college and medical school and finally moved to USA (America) where he is a well known heart specialist and very well liked by his patients and peers. Panditji's other son and daughters also moved to the USA. His other son, Roop Narayan Mishra just like his father is a religious teacher in the Indian Army.
Dhanauli Thakuran
Dhanauli Thakuran is named after the fact that this is mostly populated by the Thakurs (Thakurs belong to warrior clan).

Famous personalities
- 19th century scholar Pandit Mahesh Dutt Shukl belonged to Dhanauli.[7]
- Ram Sagar Rawat a local politician and four time (9th, 10th, 11th, 13th Lok Sabha) M.P. from Nawabganj Lok Sabha constituency(Barabanki District) was born here.[8],[9]
