DNPric.es (pronounced as "Di eN Prices" for "Domain Name Prices", also known as DNSal.es) is an online service that provides access to a database of historic data of Internet asset sales, i.e., domain names and web sites. It contains the deals made in the secondary markets as well as premium sales from the TLDs. As of 2016 it is the most complete public database of domain name sales online with past records of over a million domain names. It has an extended statistical section allowing to analyse the data from many angles, time, brokers, length, etcetera.
History
The original database was built and operated by Brands-and-Jingles and its partners from as earlier as 2005. They have been gathering the data privately for years and used it in their internal monitoring system that has millions of domain names on the radar screen.
Between 2010 and 2013, the data was presented to several industry players. As some of them had expressed interest in the service, in late 2013 Brands-and-Jingles granted the database rights to DNPric.es with permission to share the historic domain name sale data with the international audience for the public benefit of the domaining and beyond. According to the founders it is built on the principles of introducing transparency into the industry.[1]
Since its official public launch in 2014, DNPric.es was acknowledged by top industry publishers, e.g., The Next Web,[2] Andrew Allemann of Domain Name Wire, Michael Berkens of TheDomains.com et al.[3]
It also offers registrar, domain name brokerage and dropcatching services.
While predominantly oriented for domainers and domain name buyers as well as lawyers, since its presentation on ICANN 50, the database is also used by New gTLDs to assist them with pricing of premium and reserved domain names. It is also used by various companies for the R&D purposes.
In the second quarter of 2016, DNPric.es purchased and integrated Registra.rs service allowing to compare current domain name registration, renewal and transfer prices across all TLDs, SLDs and registrars.[4]
