Clydebank Post
The Clydebank Post is a weekly newspaper based in the town of Clydebank just outside Glasgow, Scotland.
The newspaper is the Flagship title of Clyde Weekly Press, part of Clyde & Forth Press Ltd. It has the largest readership of any weekly newspaper dedicated to serving the West Dunbartonshire area, with an ABC adult readership for the period between 33,550 for July 2007 to December 2007.
Other newspapers within the Clyde Weekly Press group are Barrhead News, Paisley & Renfrewshire Gazette, Dumbarton & Vale of Leven Reporter, Helensburgh Advertiser and the weekly tabloid freesheet for the Renfrewshire area, The Paisley People.
In April 2015, the paper was relaunched as a last ditch attempt to stifle the rapid decline of print sales which are now at around 5,000 per week. Despite low circulation, the website is taking in on average 100,000 to 150,000 readers per month.
In 2015, the whole group, Romanes Media Group, was taken over by Newsquest. Since late 2015, staff were demoted under restructuring and subsequently ended up leaving the company. Newsquest did not employ replacements, leaving the Clydebank Post manned by just two people at its most historically low. Long hours and a vast workload are said to be left on remaining staff.
Staff at the Clydebank Post and across the group, in April 2016, put in grievances to contract changes by Newsquest. The changes would see longer hours, less sick pay and a day less holiday per year. Newsquest has since threatened to sack all of the staff and offer them reemployment on the terms.
Reporters at the Clydebank Post include Tristan Stewart-Robertson (chief reporter) and Alan Ferguson (reporter). The paper does not have an editor but answers to Clyde Weekly group editor Henry Ainslie.
