Clostridium ljungdahlii is an anaerobic, rod-shaped, motile, endospore-forming, gram-positive bacterium.[1]

This species can ferment certain components of syngas into ethanol.[2] It also possesses properties of electrosynthesis, producing acetate on cathodes.
