Chelhar, is located 30 km east of Mithi and 60 km from Umerkot. It is West of Chacharo. Root of name of Chelhar was taken from the name of a man Chela Charan, who was owner of a well. Chelhar is famous for ranasir. Bhujia & Batia (perha) are the great soogat of this city, It has a Great and beautiful Mandir named Murlidhar mandir located in Mid of City and near the ૐ chowk. There is an annual fair of Dada rampir held at Chelhar usually in the month of September.
Its population is about 4000.There is majority of Menghwar community. People of many castes including Maheshwari .Other communities also lives in chelhar which includes Maharaj, , Bheel, Suthar, Goswami, Bajeer, Kumbhar etc. Hindus are in Majority. Peoples of this area celebrates many festival including Holi, Deewali, Kirshan Janam Ashtmi, Ram Nomi, Eid, Saba-e-Ba rat etc,the peoples of chelhar are peacefull,the Hindus and Muslims celebrates their festivals together. The Ranasar (pond) is the famous picnic point (visiting place) situated at chelhar, In rainy days thousands of visitors come there. $ a fair of ramapir
