Chartered Development Finance Analyst

A Chartered Development Finance Analyst (CDFA) is a specialist in development finance theory and practice that has been professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Development Finance; the professional association which engages with academic institutions, development finance institutions, and support agencies to support and maintain ethical conduct and professionalism in the development finance discipline globally.[1] It is claimed to be the highest professional qualification for development finance practitioners.[2]

CDFA

Charterholder status is internationally recognised and those awarded with the designation are permitted to use the post-nominal title "CDFA" i.e. it may be displayed after their name e.g. John Smith, CDFA.[3] The CDFA accreditation testifies that the charterholder has advanced knowledge of development finance which has been applied competently and ethically in research, training, and practice.

There is currently a shortage of development finance specialists in Africa; where expertise are arguably most-needed.[6]

Chartered development finance analysts are expected to have an advanced understanding of: micro-finance; development economics; project finance; econometrics; public sector financing; research methodology; project management, monitoring & evaluation; risk management; international finance and financial architecture.[7][8]
