Carrizal virus (CARV) is a single-stranded, enveloped, negative-sense RNA hantavirus species of the Bunyaviridae family. It was first isolated in Guerrero, Mexico. [1]
Virology
Carrizal virus is phylogenetically related to Montano virus and Huitzilac virus. [2]
Reservoir
Carrizal virus is carried primarily by Sumichrast's harvest mouse (R. sumichrasti).
