Professor Carlo Fonseka is a Sri Lankan intellectual, known widely for his anti-smoking activism.[1] He currently serves as the chairman of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.[2]
Early life
Carlo Fonseka was born on 4 March 1933 in Colombo.[1]
Education
Fonseka received his primary and secondary education from Maris Stella College, Negombo and at St. Joseph’s College, Colombo. In 1960 he received his MBBS (Ceylon) with a first class from the University of Colombo and obtained his postgraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh in 1966. In 1999 Prof. Fonseka was awarded a Master of Arts from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
