Captain Kidd (pub)
The Captain Kidd is a pub in Wapping, East London that is named after the seventeenth century pirate William Kidd, who was executed at the nearby Execution Dock.
History
The pub was built in the 1980s a former coffee warehouse,[1] and was named after the seventeenth century pirate William Kidd, who was executed at the nearby Execution Dock in 1701.[2][3][4] The pub has a nautical theme and retells the story of Captain Kidd and his execution; the layout of the pub is designed to be similar to a ship's hulk.[5][6][7] It is a Sam Smith's pub, and is situated on Wapping High Street.[1] The entrance has a large archway, and the pub has three floors, and has a terrace overlooking the River Thames.[4][7][8] The pub is situated next door to the Marine Police Force headquarters.[5]
