Brindavana is a 2013 Indian Kannada action film starring Darshan, Karthika Nair and Milana Nagaraj in the lead roles while Saikumar and Sampath Raj play other pivotal roles. The film, a remake of Telugu film Brindavanam (2010), is directed by K. Madesh and produced by Suresh Gowda under the Sri Seethabaireshwara Productions banner.[1] The soundtrack and score was composed by V. Harikrishna and the cinematography was by Ramesh Babu.

The principal shooting for the film formally began on 16 February 2013 which happened to be the birthday of lead actor Darshan. Actors Ambarish and V. Ravichandran were the chief guests invited for the launch at the Kanteerava Studios in Bangalore.[2] The film marks the first Kannada production set to shoot in Iceland.

Casting

While Darshan and Karthika had the lead roles, the second female lead role was first offered to Vedhika Kumar.[3] It was later reported that Malayalam actress Muktha was replaced for the same role.[4][5] Later again, the role eventually went on to a newcomer Milana Nagaraj.[6]

Story

The main story of the movie is about two step brothers Saikumar and Sampath Raj. They are two big shots in a village and both of them are rivals. Karthika Nair and Milana Nagaraj are cousins from the Saikumar and Sampath Raj families. Karthika Nair stays in village, but Milana Nagaraj relocates to the city for her studies. Darshan lives in the same city. In an incident, Darshan helps Milana Nagaraj and they both become friends & finally fall in love.

Meanwhile, Karthika Nair 's marriage is settled with some goonda whom she does not want to marry. So, she asks the help of Milana Nagaraj. Milana Nagaraj tells the whole story to Darshan and asks his help. Darshan enters into the village with the intention to stop the marriage using some clever tricks. While doing that, he fixes many issues in the village and finally he makes both Saikumar and Sampath Raj to stop their rivalry and they all join together at the end.

Release

Released on 26 September in more than 190 theaters. 50 days collection of the movie was around 47crores. Due to release of Brindavana movie, at least some films have postponed their release to avoid clash

Films such as Sakkare, Sweety Nanna Jodi, Dilwala and others, though ready for release, have postponed their releases so that they do not come in the way of Brindavana . The satellite telecast rights were offered up to a price of 5.40crore, making it the second highest sold Kannada language[7]

50 days celebration

Brindavana ran successfully for packed houses, & completed its 25 days. on 25th day there was grand celebration in Gandhinagar Narthaki theatre (main theatre of Brindavana). Blood donation camp was held, where Darshan has also attended the programme.[8] Darshan fans announced some days before in social networking sites that the Darshan will come to narthaki theatre on 25th day of Brindavana, so a large crowd was set up on that Sunday (25th day of Brindavana release). There was such a huge crowd that police over there were unable to control the crowd and did Latti charge, due to large crowd traffic near majestic was blocked completely.[9] when Darshan visited on afternoon fans rushed towards him & due to overcrowd Windows, glasses, of the theatre was broken down.[10] Producer Srinivasamurthy came forward to meet the damage expenses.[11]

Actress Milana, director Madesh and others were present when Darshan was at the Narthaki theatre. Darshan thanked those who donated blood on this occasion.

Soundtrack

The music for the film was composed by V. Harikrishna and lyrics are penned by Yograj Bhat. V Nagendra Prasad and Kaviraj[12]
