Bohunt School is a secondary school with academy status located in the rural village of Liphook, Hampshire. It is co-educational and takes children from age 11-16 and currently has over 1500 pupils enrolled. The school was opened in 1978.

Academics

In 2009 the BBC reported that Bohunt students had achieved higher that the national average at GCSEs in four years.[2] and had ranked mid-table in Hampshire on the proportion of pupils achieving the Level 2 threshold .[3] Interestingly it is also one of the few secondary schools which holds a weekly 'school meeting' (an assembly), in which the majority of the school gathers to celebrate achievements and successes.

Bohunt was designated a Language College, which means that it specialises in modern foreign languages and all pupils take at least one GCSE. Bohunt offers Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Japanese and Mandarin. In 2005 Bohunt was credited with an International School Award.[4]

In 2014 Bohunt School was awarded TES Overall School and Secondary School of the Year at the TES Awards.

Catchment

Bohunt's main intake comes mostly from four schools known as the 4-16 Partnership. These are Liss Junior School, Liphook Church of England (controlled) Junior School, Greatham Primary School and Grayshott Primary School. As a popular and oversubscribed school Bohunt also draws from many other primaries in Hampshire, Surrey, and Sussex.

Houses

The pupils are split up into a house system, each house taking the name of an important person from the local area. These are:

Arts

Bohunt has a very active performing arts department, performing productions/musicals every year. Other annual events include The Evening of Drama and Readings, Arts Fever and the Spring Concert where students showcase their acting, dancing and singing talents. Bohunt holds the Artsmark Silver national award.

Athletics

Bohunt participates in many competitions throughout Hampshire and the UK. The school holds the Sportsmark for outstanding provision, standards and participation in spirit.
