Besim Sahatçiu (Albanian pronunciation: [sahatˈtʃiu]; October 2, 1935 – October 18, 2005) was a Kosovo Albanian screenwriter and director of theatre, film and television.
Biography
After finishing the gymnasium in Pejë, Sahatçiu studied literature at the University of Belgrade for two years. After an interruption of his studies due to compulsory military service, he worked as a translator for several years. In his thirties, he enrolled in the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, Croatia. He defend his thesis with staging Gogol's satirical play, The Government Inspector, at People`s Provincial Theatre in Prishtina.[1]
Sahatçiu directed dozens of films, TV shows and plays throughout his career. As a stage director, he worked at the National Theatre of Kosovo.[1][2][3]

- Sahatçiu's documentary film, 117, was awarded the Grand Prix of the Belgrade Documentary Film Festival in 1978.[4]
