SGS Baseefa
SGS Baseefa is a certification body for equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. It is based in Buxton, Derbyshire, England. SGS Baseefa is an ATEX Notified Body and an IECEx Certification Body and as such can provide ATEX certification, IECEx certification and supporting services.
History
Research work into hazardous atmospheres and explosions has been carried out at the Buxton site since the 1920s. Baseefa Limited operated as a private company from 2001. Prior to that, it was a part of the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), a government body. In 2011 it was acquired by SGS S.A. and renamed 'SGS Baseefa Ltd'.

As a Nationally Recognised Test Laboratory (NRTL) SGS is officially recognised by the American Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for safety and compliance and can assess, test and certify your equipment for the US and Canadian ‘Hazloc’ market.
SGS Baseefa is now one of the largest organisations in this field dedicated to the testing and certification of Ex equipment for ATEX, IECEx, and the North American market. Beyond certification they also provide an authoritative voice of expertise and source of information in certification and many hazardous area related areas. With extensive experience and knowledge of the application of industry standards SGS Baseefa actively participate in committees formulating standards both at European and international level.
