Ballybricken (Irish: Baile Bricin) is a townland located in East county Limerick, which is 18 kilometres (11 miles) from Limerick city. It is mainly a farming area. The population of Ballybricken has grown considerably in the last ten years, due to its proximity to Limerick city.
Traditions
Ballybricken has a proud GAA tradition. Its local club, officially named Ballybricken/Bohermore GAA Club, is a big part of the local community and means a lot to those involved. It had a new GAA clubhouse and field built in 2008 which was officially opened on the May Bank Holiday weekend with a senior hurling challenge match between Limerick and Wexford, which was attended to by over 2000 people. The Ballybricken/Bohermore GAA senior teams play at an intermediate level in hurling and junior A in football.
