Baffins Milton Rovers F.C. is an English football club based in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The club are currently members of the Wessex League Division One, at level 10 of the English football league system. They play their home matches at the Kendall Stadium.
History
The club was formed in 2011 following the amalgamation of two very successful Sunday league teams, Baffins Milton and Milton Rovers. Both teams had won several league and cup titles in the Portsmouth Dockyard and Meon Valley leagues.[1]
Baffins Milton Rovers had early success, winning the Portsmouth Saturday Football League in the first season[2] and coming runners-up in the second.[3] This led to promotion to the Hampshire Premier League for the 2013-14 season.
The club enjoyed a successful 2013-14 season, winning the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division at its first attempt,[4] the Hampshire League Cup[5] and the Portsmouth Senior Cup, beating Moneyfields F.C. 4-2 in the final at Fratton Park.[6] In 2014-15, they were runners-up in the Hampshire Premier League[7] and League Cup.[8]
The club moved to their new ground, the Kendall Stadium, for the start of the 2015-16 season, undertaking significant development of spectator and player facilities.[9] In 2015-16 they won both the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division[10] and the Portsmouth Senior Cup for the second time, beating Havant & Waterlooville F.C. in the final.[11] The club was accepted for promotion to the Wessex Football League for the 2016-17 season, joining Division One.[12]
Ground
Baffins Milton Rovers play their home games at the Kendall Stadium, Kendalls Wharf, Eastern Road, Portsmouth, PO3 5LY.[13]
The club previously played on the southern pitch at the Langstone Harbour Sports Ground. In 2015 the club obtained a 50-year lease from Portsmouth City Council for the northern section of the sports ground and started to develop the ground in preparation for promotion. They moved to the new ground in time for the 2015-16 season, and it was named the Kendall Stadium after one of its sponsors.[9] Developments included a new 120-seater stand, changing rooms, perimeter fence and concreting, with £70,000 in grants contributing to the £100,000 costs .[9][14] Further upgrades in summer 2016 included new floodlights, dug-outs and spectator toilets. A £33,189 grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund part-funded the £50,000 costs.[15][16] The upgrades allowed the club to be accepted for promotion to Wessex League Division One for the 2016-17 season, having won the Hampshire Premier League for the second time in 2015-16.[12]
The new ground was officially opened on 3 August 2016 in a pre-season friendly match with Salisbury F.C.[15]
