Anurag Gupta[1] is Distinguished Architect at Walmart Global eCommerce and was earlier Director and Chief Architect at PayPal where he led technology for merchant payment products.
Anurag grew up in Kharagpur, India. He completed his schooling from St. Agnes Convent School and Central School in Indian Institute of Technology Campus, Kharagpur, and received an undergraduate degree in computer science from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, the oldest of the country’s elite engineering schools in 1988. He subsequently received a M.S. in Computer Science from University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D from Georgia Tech in Computer Science. Before joining Walmart Labs, he worked at DEC Systems Research Center, Equifax, Intel, Amazon, Deem, Facebook, Yahoo, and PayPal.
He participated in a CTO panel discussion at iCMG Architecture World 2014 on developing product architects and nurturing innovation.[2] He presented at Java Conference 2011 in Bangalore on personalising Yahoo Answers for hundreds of millions of users.[3]
