Anna Antonicheva

Anna Antonicheva (Russian: Анна Анатольевна Антоничева) is an Honored Artist of Russia^[1] and a principal dancer of Bolshoi Ballet.

Biography

Antonicheva was born in 1973 Baku and was a graduate of the Baku Ballet School.^[1] In 1988, she won both the gold medal and the sympathy prize at the 1st Transcaucasian Competition of Ballet Dancers. She studied at the Moscow Academy of Choreography and by 1991 graduated from there. The same year, she joined Bolshoi Theatre where she reprised roles in such plays as Hungarian bride in Swan Lake, Shireen in the Legend of Love, and Myrtha in Giselle. In 1997, she danced two characters in Sleeping Beauty and the same year danced as Henriette in Raymonda.^[2]

In 1999 she went on a tour to Kyrgyzstan where she danced in Don Quixote with Dmitry Belogolovtsev, and in 2000 she traveled to Japan where she appeared in "La Bayedere" at the New National Theatre Tokyo with Carlos Acosta and Asami Maki as main partners. She replayed Raymonda in 2003 and the same year appeared in Esmeralda which was performed at the Notre Dame de Paris and was produced by Roland Petit. In 2006 Antonicheva appeared as Rita in The Golden Age ballet and in 2007 played as Medora in Le Corsaire and in Serenade.^[2]
